2020 Conditions of Entry

HIGHLAND & ISLANDS DANCING COMPETITION
PRE-PREMIER - SATURDAY 28TH MARCH 2020
PREMIER AND PREMIER CONFINED - SUNDAY 3RD MAY 2020

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
PRE-PREMIER CONDITIONS 1 - 11 APPLY

PREMIER CONDITIONS 1 - 9, 12 & 13 APPLY

ENTRIES CLOSE MONDAY 16th MARCH 2020 - NO LATE ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED
1. Competitor’s age will be taken as that on the day of the competition.
2. The judges decision is final.
3. The competition committee reserves the right to combine, split or delete classes according to entries.
4. Trophies will be awarded in all categories except Primary Classes, competitors must be in dancing costume to receive awards.
5. Cups and Trophies must be returned for next year’s Festival. The trophy holder is responsible for the safe keeping of the trophy which is the property of HIMDF.
6. Dancers must fill in for reels as requested. Dancers from the first four may be asked to fill in.
7. Protests must be in writing, signed and presented to the Chairman on the day of the pertinent competition.
8. All dancers must register at the registration point prior to the start of their competition and show a current R.S.O.B.H.D registration card. Any dancer who does not have a card must report to the organiser before the events.
9. In the Highland Dancing competition, first to enter will be last to dance. Postal entries will be entered on date received by organiser.
10. If a Beginner, Novice or Intermediate dancer changes section before the dancing competition on Saturday 28th March they must email dance@obanfestival and notify change by Wednesday 25th March 2020.
11. Pre-Premier Highland Dancers - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
There will be no facility for advance ticket orders to the Pre-Premier Highland Dancing competition on Saturday 28th March 2020. Two tickets will be issued to each Pre-Premier competitor along with the competitor number, one for the dancer and one for an accompanying adult. Additional tickets may be bought at the door on Saturday 28th March 2020.
12. Dancers living in the current council boundaries of Argyll, Bute & the Western Isles for six months prior to the competition on Sunday 3rd May 2020 can dance in the Premier Confined and main Premier classes. If a dancer moves out with Argyll, Bute or the Western Isles, the dancer retains residency until six months residency takes place in the new area. As per RSOBHD rules, dancers can only compete in eight dances on one day, therefore dancers competiting in both Confined and main Premier age groups must confirm which dances they will be dancing in each age group at the time of entry. Please note, the Scottish National Final does not count as one of the eight dances. If entering both sections please enter main Premier Section when entering class number in Section 1 - Select Events. Please type Premier Confined in the dances box. Entry Fee for both classes £21. We will be in touch by email to confirm entry to both classes.
13. Competitor numbers and two wristbands (one for dancer and one for accompanying adult) for entry to Atlantis Leisure Centre will be sent to competitors by post. If further wristbands are required please phone 07510 841198 from 9am on Monday 6th April 2020.
